THE TOWN----------ALMUNECAR / LA HERRADURA

*   Municipality of 28,000 people, retaining its Spanish character. Around 1,500 British residents.
 
*   Almunecar, a bustling attractive town with all facilities, including a prestigious International School [3-18 years,350 pupils] teaching the English curriculum. La Herradura, a beautiful bay and villagey atmosphere.
 
*   Many beaches, some entirely undeveloped, coastal paths and watersports facilities, especially Scuba Diving.
 
*   18 hole golf courses at Motril [20 minutes east], and Caleta [20 minutes west]
 
*   Served from Malaga by non-toll Autoroute. Malaga Airport [due west] 50/55 minutes.
 
*   Currently approx. 1 hour 20 minutes from ski slopes and 1 hour from Granada city centre. Soon to be reduced when last gaps in this Autoroute are completed in 2009.
 
*   Gibraltar under 2 1/2 hours for duty free shopping, English pubs, Marks and Spencer, Morrisons superstore etc.

THE SETTING----------PUNTA DE LA MONA

*   Large pine covered point jutting into the Mediterranean between Almunecar and La Herradura.
 
*   Historically considered to be one of the Top Ten addresses in Spain.
 
*   Home for many years of Andres Segovia, the great classical guitarist.
 
*   Site of the charming Marina del Este with 227 moorings and many waterside restaurants.
 
*   A place of quiet discretion with this hill characterised by large houses in their own grounds.
